MY WORK
I’ve spent hours and hours of time that I've stolen prioritizing completing a carefully curated selection of my latest and most influential pieces. Be sure to give it a read and immerse yourself in poetry.

SMILE
She was the moon to my starry sky. Her fire was her world.
There was something dangerous about her smile.
The ease at which it melted me was scary. She knew it. I knew it.
But that never stopped me from cracking another joke.
The fire of her smile soon burnt the resistance of my icy heart.
Each flame provoked me to add more fuel.
I thought I'd never run out of fuel. I never did.
But she ran out of fire. And now it's just cold for the both of us.
With frowns, we drown in the ocean of my heart.
We sank. She doesn't know it yet.
I guess she'll float to another island and light another fire.
There was something dangerous about her smile.

HABITS
Don't want to let you in my mind. I just cannot afford to do so.
But you've already slipped in and now I think of you.
Complicating what seemed to be simple, breaking what I do not have, my mind spirals endlessly, my concentration is lacking.
I know what it is. I'm very well aware. I just can't do anything about it. I've let my guard down again.
I do not know what to expect. Frankly, I don't expect a thing. And yet I invest and back the notion of having you on my mind.
I'll be playing your games again. But not because of you. It's because of me and because of my mind.
Reset button shall be activated soon, but I like having you on my mind.
It's a thrill one can't buy. It's intimate and special. Secluded to myself. I'm fooling myself again!
There you walk past again once more, as I aimlessly attempt to get you off my mind.
Drifting off.

COMPLICATED
She got tattoos on her arm,
She doesn't like them anymore.
She dyes her hair blonde
And changes what she wore.
She looks at the mirror again,
Disgusted with what she sees.
Make up when she wakes up,
It's not the world she's trying to please,
But herself.

ONCE MORE
Once more, we find ourselves here. Dumbfounded and still. In awe and admiration of each other's perfection, and more so of our flaws.
Our minds collide creating the perfect storm. Rattling our worlds, making us one again.
Laying side by side, our toes gently collide as I trace your curves with my fingertips. I caress your hair, and lose myself in the depth of your eyes while they stare into my soul.
Your head on my chest deciphering my heartbeats. My hands around your waist as we stare at infinity. We exchange warmth and taste life.
This moment, we have everything. As we make time stand still just for us. We trade our happiness and sorrow for this very moment, we do not think of a tomorrow. What we have is eternal.
We do not speak, but our silence does. Sonnets of desire. A picturesque canvas, painted with pure love.
We are poetry.
With every movement, we create a masterpiece. Our masterpiece.
That cheeky smile slips, after the little bite of your lips, while we breathe each other, now closer than ever. Wanderer's sharing a tent on a deserted island lit on fire. We are the masters of our lands, our dreams, the world we have built together, founded by shared memories and countless adventures.
We whisper in each other's ear our names, as sweat drowns our troubles and your touch numbs the pain.
We travel through time back to the night we met. Expressing love the way we did back then, unconditionally.
Jazz punctuates our night. Lights off, we become one with the night. And the moon, the stars and all that shines. The darkness might return tomorrow, not today.
For today, we live our dream.
And tomorrow, we dream.

BEARD.
From a naive teenager the stubble started growing in patches
covering the face, hiding expressions.
A sign of strength, of being manly.
As the beard grew, various styles gave solace.
Changing color with time, aging.
Finer with age now hiding wrinkles, acting brave, false courage.
A grandchild now playing with it once a year.
A priceless smile as his health fades and grey turns to white.

THE OCEAN
Serenade the ocean,
drown your woes in the deep,
sing endless lullabies till the tides fall asleep.
Walk the countless grains of sand, let blue overwhelm you,
take in the ocean breeze, your soul calls for a rescue.
Escape reality back to reality.
Listen to the waves calling out but you're too busy serenading your city.

THE MAN
Understand his fears,
understand his plan.
Understand his purpose,
understand the man.

BRAVE
How are you? She dodges the question with a smile on her face.
She just wants to pour out her soul, to let all her monsters out. All the voices in her head. All the horrors she's spent a lifetime subduing. All the pain she can't explain, the treacherous route to her heart hardened by society and it's antiques. She's never been more far from herself.
She silences the darkness and puts on that smile, fearing her demons would engulf others in her darkness.
With a smile on her face, she dodges the question and the world carries on. And so she carries on carrying the burden of her world.

SEEN IT ALL
I've seen you before, surely I have. The way the breeze caresses your hair, the twinkle in your eyes, the imperfections you're trying to hide, the heart your still mending. I've seen you before probably walking down a street, probably chasing a sunset wishing upon a star, finding yourself.
I remember you vividly it is no coincidence. I'm not a crazy man. Probably from another lifetime, where I would have cherished your company. Would have kept you warm when it's freezing, would have accompanied you on long walks traversing unconquered roads. A shoulder for you to lean on, an admirer of your imperfections. A small part of your beautiful world.
I have seen you before, surely I have. You don't seem to recognize me.You walk past, it's a nightmare. We've been through this before. We might never see each other again.
Probably in another lifetime where fate would bring us to the same path and the connection would last beyond time.

RULERS
We are emperor's of our destiny
when we strive to be
the conquerors of our minds.

THE OLD MAN SAID
The old man said,
don't you dare
wish you were dead.

TRULY FREE
The truth is that you do
Know what is right for you.
And yet you refuse to choose
What is evidently clear
As you live in fear
Of what the others would think.
You choose to sink with the crew
Rather than swim all alone.
There's only a few
That can stay in the zone
And do what is right
For them, and will fight
For who they want to be.
They are truly free.

BEAUTIFUL THINGS
People ruin beautiful things.
I refuse to share you
With the world.
For they will make you
Question your own beauty
Until you become
as broken as they are.

DIVIDED
We have been divided
Not by the world,
But by our worlds.
We die defending
Our worlds
While the world
Lives on.

WAITING FOR YOU
The lights dim
When you leave.
The sleeve
Of my sweater
Misses you
Wishes you
Come back soon.
The moon,
The weather
Sets the mood
There's food
For two.
Waiting for you.

ADVENTURE
Every single conversation with you
Is an adventure
For I do not know where it will go.
But what I know for sure
Is that I'll always leave my door
For a new conversation with you.
You make me adventurous.

EMBRACE THE PRESENT
Love is when you stop thinking
And embrace the present.
You feel every moment so deeply
For you do not have the burden
Of thinking what's gonna happen next.
You simply let go of all those thoughts
And become carefree.
You allow yourself the space
To experience the simple things
With someone similar to you.
And together, your creativity blooms
And brings to your lives what wasn't there.
For you do not care
About anything, but this moment.
When you fall out of love,
You allow thoughts to get the better of you.
When you think, you escape
The feeling of sharing the moment
With your loved one
And arrive at doubts and question marks
As you question love.
You then chase love
But what you are chasing is the feeling
Of being care free.
Of being present in the moment,
Of not thinking
And just letting go
And embracing life as it comes
And letting your true feelings prevail.
Love is created by your mind
And bears fruit when the mind of your lover
Wishes to create too.
And together, you create what didn't seem to exist
And what never would have existed
If it wasn't for the both of you
Coming together
And deciding to be
Present in the moment.

WANT
I wanted you
Even before I met you.
The weight of anticipation
Of meeting you
Can be seen in my hunched back.
In my trembling voice,
In my shaky fingers,
In my irregular breathing.
There's hope
You'd breathe life back into me.
This hunched back
Wouldn't mind carrying you
Across all lengths and breadths.
These shaky fingers
Wouldn't fail at caressing your hair gently.
This trembling voice
Would recite your name like a chant.
I want you
To breathe life back into me again.

AN ESCAPE
Sometimes, not being present in the moment can feel as annoying as that one strand of hair that refuses to be tamed.
And the more you try, the more you realize just how much of a challenge it really is to tame your hair. Or, to be present in the moment. You're distracted again. And your cup of coffee has gone cold. You're hair is turning grey.
Your eyes bursts through the room to the grey skies, almost instantaneously. You notice the dust on the window, the floaters in your eye, the sound of your fan and the noise of the television in the background. The smell of coffee, cigarettes and newspapers, the shadows on the wall, the emptiness.
You're present now. Somehow. But where? Somewhere. In reality? Or in your mind?

PHOTOGRAPH
Here you are,
Taking yet another photograph.
Sweetheart, my heart is tired
Of trying to convince you
That this photograph means
Just as much as the last one
And the millions of ones before them.
The more you take, the more value it loses.
It's something you might stumble upon
While sifting through your gallery
On a rainy day, unintentionally.
And if lucky, you might choose to pin it up
On your closet, with the others to haunt you,
To taunt you for not paying more attention.
To not being present then,
The same way you're escaping now.
This photograph, as good as it may be,
Will never bring back the moment
You're missing out on living.
Soak it in darling, breathe it in
And let this moment engulf you
Such that no photograph
Would hold up in comparison
To this very moment.
Say cheese!

PRISON
I'm in my own prison
For my biggest crime
Of stealing love
And cheating time.
Both at which,
I have failed.

SOLITUDE
Some days, my solitude feels like freedom
And on the others, it feels like loneliness.
The quiet is liberating, and yet terrifying.

PRINCIPLES OF MAN
Go on man and seize the day,
Strive to find your merry way.
Go on lad and fight your blues,
life moves on, there’s no excuse.
You’ll be stopped and stopped again,
but my son, you’ll fight the pain.
Doors will shut and close on you,
climb mountains, enjoy the view.
In deep waters, if you drown
rise above and don’t you frown.
If you lose it all, don’t fear,
a new adventure is near.
Comrades, value others life.
Nowadays, problems run rife.
Be humble, have empathy.
Happiness will set you free.
Don’t be consumed by your mind,
love yourself and you shall find.
Be content and don’t look down,
you’re the master of your town.
Don’t give up when you are crying,
battles are won by trying.
Failure is a stepping stone,
victory is yours to own.
When you ride the stormy seas,
don’t get blown down by the breeze.
You have great power my son,
your journey has just begun.
Unconditionally kind,
you’re the eyesight of the blind.
You may have to lead the way
go on lad and seize the day.
A true man never loses,
he doesn’t seek excuses.
So boy, wipe your tears away,
you are a man from today.
Be responsible, no fear.
Other men are waiting here.
Take that jump, that leap of faith,
you’re invincible says fate.
Write your story, use your ink,
don’t ever let your ship sink.
If all goes down, don’t complain,
you’re a man, you’ll start again.
Work hard but don’t let them know,
you are a man, it will show.
Lose the world to find yourself
it’s all you right till the end.
Carpe diem.

NEED YOU
I must admit, I needed you.
Needed you to tell me
That I am enough,
And that I didn't need you.
You were my pencil
When I needed an eraser.
It didn't matter how many
Books you would fill
With poems on love
When it's the past
I couldn't erase from my mind.
Like running on a vinyl disc
Playing our favorite melody,
You couldn't understand
Why I wanted it to stop.
You couldn't see I was running
the marathon as my own competition,
And yet I was destined to lose.
What good is your consolation
At the finish line?
I fear stubbing my toe on grass
And it's a fear you'll never understand.
For I have been pricked by objects and things
I never thought could hurt me.
I have been tricked by happiness
Only to know it never lasts.
And yet it's happiness that you promise me.
I don't blame you,
It's not your fault.
I'm subscribed to disappointment
And have added this experience to
The playlist of my pain.
I didn't want to disappoint you later
And so I'll hurt you now,
Hoping the pain I'll cause you
Will chase you away with newfound hatred.
And yet,
You cling on to me
Like a man to his umbrella in the pouring rain.
You must understand,
This rain never stops.
I'm not another mountain you can climb.
Yet you attempt to do so,
With blindfolds on.
You will fall, I can't stand to lose you
I've already lost myself.
And so, I need you to tell me
That I am enough, that I don't need you.
Seal me in the envelope of your memories.
Let me go to the address where I find myself
And deal with all my shortcomings
Until I truly don't need you.
In your heart of hearts, you know
You don't need me too.

SKYSCRAPERS
We climbed the staircase of the skyscraper
While others took the elevator to the top.
We took a second to catch our breath
At each and every stop.
We might not remember the skyscraper,
Or the view in years to come
But the climb is what will remain in our brains,
For what is foolish and stupid for some,
Is what we find to be so great.
When we finally made it, we didn't care that we were late,
For we had the view all to ourselves.
The photograph of us drenched in sweat now lies upon the shelf.
But it is the climb that we remember
And the journey that we truly cherish
Yes, the view was one to die for
But the memories we made will never perish.

HIGH
Everybody dies.
Some ahead of others.
Some while they're living,
They are dead with open eyes.
Everybody lies
When it comes to living.
Some even deny,
Certificates say they are alive.
They look at the skies
Hoping they find some life
When they forever close their eyes.
Until then, they lie
For they cannot lie in bed.
Death has made a home in their head
And the bell doesn't ring anymore.
Ringing the door
To see who's home
To find nobody.
Not even you.
Pale blue
Skin, sky. High.
Would love to hear from you.
